Ok so I haven’t updated in a couple days but in fairness, in a town like this there are better things to do than write a blog.
The draft was awesome, really glad I got the opportunity to be there for what was essentially the birth of the Taylor Hall era in Edmonton. GO OIL!
Friday night we were brought out on the town and finished the night at Voyeur Nightclub. Umm, wow. No, WOW! Props to Brandon’s girl Heather for pulling some strings to get us in. This place was like no other! After the club we grabbed some food at a taco joint while we were enlightened as to the ins and outs of the movie business.
Saturday we got our asses out of Chinatown and moved to a hotel just off the beach in Marina del Rey. Very nice! Took a short but tragedy filled (Ray lost his cellphone, for me it was funny, for him, not so much) trip down to the beach to check out the ocean!
The night had us out on the town again, Brandon and Heather took us to a killer sushi bar! Sushi is sooo good when done right. After that we hit the bars again, this time in Venice, hopped a few places, talked hockey with guys from Minnesota and Utah, had a killer drink made by a “Mixologist”. These guys take their shit seriously, order a Jack and Coke and they’ll throw you into the street. Can’t remember the drink name for the life of me but I know it had whiskey and blueberry in it. Everywhere we went we were introduced to tons of new people and everyone is awesome. I’ve yet to experience any snobbish attitudes and I hope it stays that way, why ruin a good thing right?
Finished the night at Brandon’s place drinking and having a blast with him and his roomates. Drunk-dialed my wife on the way back to the hotel at 5:30 AM, luckily it was 8:30 there and she was up brushing her teeth. Coulda been in some serious shit there.
Today was a bit of a recovery day, Ray slept and I drove out to Hollywood to cruise around a bit. I’m sure it has it’s faults but the more I see, the more I love this town. No wonder nobody wants to leave! Tonight will be a calm night, Brandon and Heather are hosting us with a little barbeque, really looking forward to it!
Later,
Rob
